Maintaining your Convectair...

To perform at maximum efficiency, your
Convectair units require occasional maintenance.

For more information, contact us from monday to friday between 8h30am and 5pm (Eastern Time) toll free at 1-800-463-6478 or e-mail us at support@convectair.com

At least twice a year, vacuum the dust accumulated at the bottom of the protective pan. Also clean the grille over the pan with a dry cloth.

For the Melody line #7382, 7383, 7384 and the Ténor #7715 (applicable also to old models # 7375-76-77 or 7331-32-34 or 7324), the vaccum cleaner nozzle can easily be inserted into the protective pan through the front of the unit. Remember to vacuum the grille above the dust pan as well.

For the Apero model, simply clean the grille at the bottom of the unit with the vacuum cleaner noozle and point it towards the inside of the unit. Then clean the louver located on the top-front of the unit.

For the Classique 7313 model, remove the grille from the base of the unit. Insert the vacuum cleaner noozle into the dust pan and point it towards the inside of the unit. Then clean the grille over the dust pan.

The Bathroom unit model 7825 is equipped with a filter to trap most of the dust before it enters the unit. When the warning light indicates that the filter must be cleaned, take the filter out through the top of the unit and remove the dust with a vacuum or by hand (as you would clean the filter in a clothes dryer). The interior of the 7825 might eventually require cleaning. To clean the inside of the unit, turn off the breaker switch on your electrical distribution panel, test the unit to make sur it is off and remove the unit from the mounting bracket. Take off the cover of the junction box and disconnect the unit. Place the unit face down and remove the six (6) screws located around the back of the unit. Remove the cover and blow out the dust. Using an air compressor or with the air blower of your vacuum cleaner, blow in the air through the base of the unit, without touching the element. During this operation, you must stop the fan rotation by carefully inserting a screwdriver through the grille in the back of the unit. For best results, disconnect the unit, remove the two mounting screws and unhook the unit from the wall.

For the Grilles. As with all heating units, the grille of Convectair units can change color over time (especially white units). To prevent discoloration, they should be cleaned regularly. Wipe them with a damp cloth and a small amount of VIM, Hertel or another mild cleaning product to prevent the accumulation of dust, grease, smoke and other particles.

The exterior of the unit can be cleaned with water and mild soap (the same way that you would clean household appliances) to remove fingerprints and other stains.

Understanding my control panel..

For some rooms, like a living room or a study, comfort means a constant, even temperature. For others, like entrances and bathrooms, we look for instant and quick heat but don’t want to spend money unnecessarily. In both cases, controls must be simple and intuitive.

For the first case, Convectair has designed heaters that include:
-an on/off switch (to avoid unnecessary expenses in the summer);
-a comfort-level regulator that can be set for each room and adjusted to suit your needs;
- on some heaters, a function selector (Note 1) that can be controlled manually or automatically to lower the temperature when the room is not in use (Comfort, Economy, Frost Protection or automatic programming).

The bathroom heaters include:
-an on/off switch and/or function selector;
-a comfort-level regulator ("base" heat);
-a timer to speed up heating or to dry towels

Note 1: The function selector on the left of the panel has 4 different positions

Programming (Clock): To be used only if a Convectair optional Programmer is installed. Allows automatic setback and comfort.

Comfort (Sun): This function will maintain the desired comfort temperature(selected by the user). Use this mode all the time unless you have a specific conditions.

Economy (Moon): This function will automatically drop down the room comfort temperature by a preset 7o F/4o C at your convenience.

Frost protection (Snowflake): Maintains ambient temperature at about 45o F/8o C during absences longer than 48 hours. Not recommended for long periods of very cold temperatures.

Different Heating Method, different advantages...

Natural Convection heaters furnish a more even distribution of heat in the room while minimizing heat loss through walls, windows and ceilings. They are fitted with a high performance X-shaped monoblock heating element designed and manufactured by Convectair, whose main feature is to heat as much air as possible in complete silence.

Radiant heaters directly heat bodies and objects, creating a gentle feeling of warmth. They create a comforting "hot spot" in the room, while ensuring an even distribution of heat. They are fitted with various types of heating elements custom-made for each application, and manufactured in our own plants, providing a guarantee of quality and performance.

The compact Fan-forced models enable faster heating and more intense air movement, and their low-thermal-mass heating element is able to concentrate significant power in small space. These units instantly transfer heat to the fan-generated airflow. Coupled to a timer, they provide true heating on demand.

Setting the thermostat to the maximum won’t make the room more comfortable...

It will only overwork the heating elements, causing overheating and energy waste.

In open areas...

the thermostat of each unit should be set at the same comfort level. This will ensure even heat distribution throughout the room.

There’s no need to readjust your thermostats with every change in weather...

Convectair units are equipped with high-performance electronic thermostats that heat intelligently ! Simply set your comfort level and don’t give it a second thought. Your units will always adjust automatically to provide you with gentle, even heating.

To keep one room at a different temperature from the others,...

Keep the door closed. This will also avoid wasting energy.
